ORCHESTRAPÆDIA BACK

My illustrations form part of this new orchestral work for children by my sister, Roxanna. But who knew a clarinet could be so saucy?

Some of you may know my sister Roxanna is a classical composer (as was my dad). Mid-April saw the world premiere of her new piece Orchestrapædia – a work for children about the day in the life of a chamber orchestra (although “a rather raunchier day than one suspects would be strictly accurate” is how one critic described it).

During the piece my illustrations are projected above the orchestra as each character (which include a boozy double bass, a sassy clarinet, a Mexican bandit trumpet and loved-up lower strings), all take a turn and a flirt before having a good old fiesta together at the end.

The piece was commissioned jointly by Welsh Sinfonia (who are performing the first two performances) and Chelmsford Festival, where the next one will take place on July 7th 2013. Click here for tickets
