Finger Lickin' Records

Finger Lickin’ Records is the label I co-founded with Justin Rushmore in the late 1990s for which we recorded, remixed and DJ’d under the name Soul of Man (amongst others).

While Justin and Abel Reynolds undertook the running of the label, I oversaw the visual side, creating the branding and imagery for record sleeves, flyers, videos and event projections.

Finger Lickin’ was all about the fun and the funk, and the mission from the off was to reflect that with a strong visual identity, splashing out on full-colour sleeves (a great extravagance and a rarity in those just-post white label days!)

The label quickly established itself firmly in the international dance scene, specifically breakbeat, thanks to the additional talents of Plump DJs, A. Skillz, Lee Coombs, Krafty Kuts, Slyde and a whole load of other beat-making powerhouses forging their way ahead from the Finger Lickin’ stable.

For over a decade we were lucky enough to tour the world DJing and putting on Finger Lickin’ events from Sydney to San Francisco. We had a regular slot hosting Room 1 at Fabric, and there were very few electronica festivals worldwide without the Finger Lickin’ sound.

My illustrations then found their way onto animated club projections, merchandise and even tattoos!

(Have you got one? Please show me!)

There’s plenty of my Finger Lickin’ art and music dotted around this website.  You can also buy a selection my sleeves as posters, prints and other merch like t-shirts and mugs here.
